Pen and a pad, put your heart down

Macklemore is a well known artist from Seattle. In his song “I said Hey” he tells the story of how he was brought into rap music and discovered his love for it. The main message he brings through it is at the end of the day if you love what you do, give it your all. It could be artist simply picking up a paint brush, a break-dancer to just take to the floor, or a writer to just take a pen and a pad.

As I continue to try this newsletter I find all the other things through my life that have influenced this thinking. I always liked this line about sticking to the basics. It does not matter how fancy your painting is so long as you get up everyday and pick up the brush and paint something.

I am hopeful that if I can find consistency in writing these ramblings it will lead to something bigger. I hope that I can, as so many others have, find solace in the simple process of writing. Something I have bursts of inspiration of, but the only consistency has been in my inability to keep it up.
